Community employment and
job initiative scheme

 

Three CE schemes employ 45 part time participants who are engaged in a range of activities, which enhance community life in North West Connemara.
The following activities are carried out under the CE schemes


Social Care Programme

Forum co-ordinates an extensive Social Care Programme, for older and vulnerable people, throughout North West Connemara,
which includes meals on wheels, laundry service, security, resource groups, coffee mornings, outings,
intergenerational programmes respite breaks and an annual Arts week event.

Youth in Action

Forum coordinates a Youth in Action programme aimed at primary schools, secondary schools, Foroige clubs, sports clubs
and any other groups working or interested in working with young people in Connemara.
Actions include Fun Runs, Summer Camps, Cycling Safety and Skills, Annual Calendar and Youth Work.

Essential Housing Repairs 

Forum co ordinates an Essential Housing Repairs scheme which carries out essential housing repairs for the elderly
and others and also assists in other work in the community.

Job Initiative 

Forum manages a J.I. scheme, employing eleven full-time workers who are carrying out a wide range of work
in conjunction with community based organisations e.g. environmental work, work with community radio,
minibus drivers for services to older people, youth work, social care work, accounts and administration work for community office.
